Enhanced field operations intensify campaign vs illegal drugs in ZamPen

ZAMBOANGA CITY (PIA) – The Zamboanga Peninsula region currently records a total of Php462,400 worth of confiscated drugs in early weeks of 2025 through various buy-bust operations in Zamboanga City and the province of Zamboanga del Sur spearheaded by the  Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA)-9.

PDEA-9 nabs drug suspect and seizes Php81,600 worth of shabu in Zamboanga City.

In Zamboanga City, PDEA operatives, in coordination with the Regional Mobile Force Battalion 9, apprehended a suspected drug personality and seized Php81,600 worth of shabu. 

In Tukuran, Zamboanga del Sur, authorities seized Php340,000 worth of shabu from a suspected drug personality, alias “Boboy”, while another suspect from Lanao del Norte evaded arrest. 

Moreover, a joint operation in Pagadian City led to the arrest of a college student and the confiscation of Php40,800 worth of shabu. 

Around Php340,000 worth of shabu was seized from a drug suspect in Tukuran, Zamboanga del Sur.

These successful operations demonstrate the intensified efforts of law enforcement agencies to dismantle drug networks and curb the proliferation of illegal drugs within the Zamboanga Peninsula.

The suspects arrested will be facing charges for violations of Sections 5 and 11, Article II of Republic Act 9165, otherwise known as the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002.

PDEA-9 has emphasized its unwavering commitment to combat illegal drug activities in the region. Through collaborative efforts with local police units and other law enforcement agencies, PDEA aims to create safer and drug-free communities across the Zamboanga Peninsula.

While these recent operations demonstrate a significant step forward in the fight against illegal drugs, authorities have stressed the importance of continued vigilance and collaborative efforts between law enforcement agencies and the community.
