KORONADAL CITY, South Cotabato – The management of the South Cotabato Provincial Hospital thanked the Department of Health (DOH) for the funding and the provincial government of South Cotabato for its commitment to complete the first phase of a new four-story extension building project of the hospital.
The provincial government of South Cotabato has recently inaugurated the first phase of a new four-story extension building for the DOH-supervised South Cotabato Provincial Hospital.
The newly constructed facility will initially function as an outpatient department, addressing the current congestion issues experienced in the main hospital building.
According to Dr. Conrado M. Braña Jr., the chief of South Cotabato Provincial Hospital, this temporary arrangement will allow for the renovation of the existing outpatient department, creating a more efficient and comfortable environment for patients.
The extension building will also house essential laboratory services and a pharmacy to enhance the range of healthcare services available to the community.
While the first phase is a crucial step forward, Braña also emphasized that support and funding from the DOH and the Department of Public Works and Highways is still required to complete the remaining sections of the building, including the second floor.
The main goal, she said, is to transform the complex into a comprehensive healthcare facility, potentially accommodating an operating room complex, a delivery room complex, an OB-GYN ward, a surgical ward, an emergency room, and administrative offices.
Braña, who also expressed gratitude to stakeholders who contributed to the project realization, reaffirmed the hospital’s dedication to providing high-quality healthcare services not only to the residents of South Cotabato but also to those from neighboring provinces. (SZT – PIA Region 12)
