CALAPAN CITY, Oriental Mindoro (PIA) — The National Irrigation Administration and the Philippine Center for Postharvest Development and Mechanization (PhilMech) has equipped the Nagkakaisang Samahan ng Magpapatubig ng Cambunang, Inc. in the municipality of Bulalacao with farming machineries.
This initiative, part of the government’s commitment to modernize agriculture and enhance productivity, have provided the association with a tractor, a rotavator, a front loader, and a PTO-driven disc plow.
This generous provision is set to benefit 80 local farmers directly, promising a substantial increase in the productivity of 173 agricultural fields in the area. By integrating these modern mechanized tools into their farming practices, Cambunang’s farmers are expected to see a significant boost in efficiency and yield, thereby contributing to the province’s food security and the livelihoods of its farming communities.
The NIA and PhilMech’s initiative is part of a broader national strategy to enhance agricultural mechanization in the Philippines, aiming to ensure that Filipino farmers have access to the latest technologies to improve their competitiveness and sustainability.
Meanwhile, Nagkakaisang Samahan ng Magpapatubig ng Cambunang, Inc. President Richard Fabilla expressed his gratitude and optimism regarding the new equipment, emphasizing how these tools will enable them to cultivate their lands more effectively and increase their harvests.
