Finding Family: A senior citizen’s touching journey back home

The Isabela City Social Welfare and Development Office (CSWDO) reunited a 72-year-old man with his family in Zamboanga City on Tuesday.

Vicente Perez Acar, of Siocon town, Zamboanga del Norte, got lost in Isabela City while searching for his son. 

The septuagenarian wandered the streets until a concerned citizen who took pity on him contacted the CSWDO.

CSWDO staff responded and provided Acar with care and comfort. They then worked to locate his family in Zamboanga City, contacting local authorities and community members.

The CSWDO also provided financial assistance to Acar for travel expenses.

CSWDO staff escorted Acar to Zamboanga City, where he reunited with his family.

Tears of happiness streamed down Acar’s cheeks as he embraced his son.

The CSWDO’s efforts demonstrate its commitment to assisting vulnerable community members. The agency’s work, including financial support, highlights the role of social welfare programs.
