IPIL, Zamboanga Sibugay (PIA) – It’s not your typical storytelling session with kids.
The fire safety campaign of the Bureau of Fire and Protection (BFP) in the province has taken a different approach to teaching children aged 4-6 years old by utilizing the art of storytelling to teach fire prevention techniques and emergency procedures.
Pupils of Ipil Central Elementary School (ICES) were entertained with interactive narratives that equipped them with practical knowledge on how to identify fire hazards and seek assistance in times of need.
The Office of the Provincial Fire Marshal of Zamboanga Sibugay, spearheading the event together with ICES, underscored the significance of community collaboration in nurturing safety-conscious behavior among students.
Gerti Rose B. Endoy, the teacher of the kindergarten class, conveyed her appreciation for this endeavor, highlighting the importance of teaching safety to kids.
“We are thankful for this initiative because it is important that we teach safety to kids at an early age,” Endoy said.
The school personnel conveyed their appreciation for the initiative, recognizing its pivotal role in honing young minds to be aware of the dangers posed by fire. They highlighted that these children will grow into individuals with the right mindset regarding fire safety.
FO3 Jhonry B. Luab, chief of the Fire Safety and Education Section, emphasized the importance of initiatives like these in cultivating a culture of safety awareness from an early age.
“This initiative is crucial for shaping young minds to prioritize safety in all aspects of their lives,” Luab said.
The initiative, a component of BFP Zamboanga Sibugay’s Fire Prevention Month activities, underscores the bureau’s steadfast dedication to fostering community empowerment through the dissemination of life-saving skills and awareness.
