First airport branch of Normin OTOP Go Lokal! soars in Laguindingan

CAGAYAN DE ORO CITY (PIA) — In a landmark development for business and tourism in Northern Mindanao, the Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) Misamis Oriental launches the OTOP Go Lokal! Store in Laguindingan Airport, Misamis Oriental.

One Town, One Product (OTOP) Hub is a retail store or space where products of micro, small, and medium enterprises (MSMEs) assisted by the OTOP Program can be found. It is a project of DTI that aims to expand the market of MSMEs in the country.

The OTOP Go Lokal! Store is the ninth OTOP Hub established in Northern Mindanao but the first in the region to be launched inside an airport. It is additionally distinct as it combines with Go Lokal!, another market access platform of DTI.

The newly launched OTOP Go Lokal! Store in Laguindingan Airport features products from 33 MSMEs in Bukidnon, Camiguin, Lanao del Norte, Misamis Occidental, and Misamis Oriental. The products include processed food, coffee, cacao, processed fruits and nuts, and wearables and home-style products.

The store will be operated by Melvin Caesar Fabello, homegrown entrepreneur and lead of the Misamis Oriental Coffee Council.

The launching was attended by Engr. Marilyn Legaspi, representing Misamis Oriental Governor Peter Unabia; Laguindingan Mayor Diosdado Obsioma; Ms. Yogi Sambaan, representing Civil Aviation Authority of the Philippines-Area Center X Manager Job De Jesus; Department of Tourism Regional Director Marie Elaine Unchuan; Regional MSME Development Council Chairperson Reggie Punongbayan; DTI-Bureau of Domestic Trade Promotion (BDTP) Director Marievic Bonoan; DTI-10 Regional Director Ermedio Abang; DTI Misamis Oriental Provincial Director Almer Masillones; and OTOP Go Lokal! Store operator Melvin Fabello.

The OTOP Go Lokal! Store is located at the Departure Area of the Laguindingan Airport.

It was launched in partnership with DTI Region 10, DTI Misamis Oriental, DTI-BDTP and Civil Aviation Authority of the Philippines-Area Center X and supported by the Province of Misamis Oriental and the Local Government Unit of Laguindingan. (DTI-10/PIA-10)
