Gatchalian intensifies aid for typhoon survivors

MANILA, (PIA) — Senator Win Gatchalian has ramped up relief operations in several municipalities across Catanduanes, Albay, Ilocos Norte, and Cagayan following a series of devastating typhoons that struck the region in recent weeks.

In a significant aid initiative, the senator distributed 5,700 sacks of rice, valued at P10.83 million, sourced from Valenzuela City. This effort aims to support thousands of families struggling to recover from the natural disasters.

On Sunday, Gatchalian, accompanied by Valenzuela City Vice Mayor Lori Natividad-Borja and local Social Welfare and Development staff, delivered P1.9 million worth of food assistance to the provincial government of Catanduanes.

This aid is targeted at 27,539 families adversely affected by the recent typhoons.

Additionally, Gatchalian extended his relief efforts in Albay, providing P380,000 in food assistance to the town of Libon, which has seen 21,687 families impacted. Just weeks prior, he allocated over P2.35 million in food and another P2.35 million in cash assistance to flood victims in Legazpi City and the municipalities of Guinobatan, Daraga, Polangui, and Oas.

Looking ahead, Gatchalian is scheduled to deliver 500 sacks of rice, valued at P950,000, to Pagudpud, Ilocos Norte next week.

He will also provide over P7.6 million in food assistance to Cagayan province, benefiting approximately 78,638 families across the towns of Aparri, Buguey, Sanchez Mira, Gonzaga, Claveria, and Tuguegarao City. (JCO/PIA-NCR)
