PRO-Cor kicks-off Women’s Month with awarding of deserving lady cops

CAMP BADO DANGWA, La Trinidad, Benguet (PIA) - - The Police Regional Office – Cordillera kicked off the celebration of Women’s Month during the Monday (March 6) flag raising ceremony with an awarding of medals to its deserving female personnel.

Guest of Honor and Speaker Philippine Information Agency – Cordillera Regional Director Helen Tibaldo assisted by PRO – Cor officials headed by Regional Director Mafelino Bazar awarded the Medalya ng Kagalingan to PCPT Ginabel Dao-inon and PSSg. Jenilyn Gaboy of the Sta. Marcela Municipal Police Station in Apayao for the successful implementation of search warrant that resulted in the arrest of a listed high value individual for violation of the Dangerous Drugs Act of the Philippines.

Awarded with the Medalya ng Papuri are PLTCol Dominga Terraco and PSSg Grail Ann Alipio of the Benguet Provincial Police Office for their invaluable services rendered in the successful conduct of 2 – day Theoretical Driving Course in coordination with the Technical Education and Skills Development Authority which benefitted 74 participants composed People Who used Drugs, Kabataan Kontra Droga at Terorismo) and PNP personnel and their dependents.

Also awarded with the Medalya ng Ugnayang Pampulisya are PCpt. Maricris Melchor and PSMS Junia Talingdan of Danglas Abra MPS for their invaluable service rendered in providing “Balut Pangkabuhayan” Package to Jerwin Languisan, a solo parent and one of the drugs surrenderees in the municipality.

Another awardee is PCpl Ardayle Callueng of RMPRD of PRO – Cor for her noteworthy accomplishment in the field of Police Community Relations for sharing food packs, hygiene kits and goodie bags to 19 – day care pupils of Barangay Fairview Day Care Center, Baguio City in celebration of her birthday on October 4, 2022.

Tibaldo, in her keynote message, congratulated   the PRO-Cor for highlighting the importance of gender and development in its mandate to serve and protect.

“Having women at the helm of our law enforcement efforts can improve effectiveness, especially when it comes to responses in gender – based crimes, per se. We can develop a more gender - responsive institution that better caters to the needs of everyone in the community. At iyan po ay ramdam ko at kita natin na nangyayari na sa PRO – Cor,” Tibaldo stressed.

“Women empowerment and creating a culture of equality and inclusivity in all sectors of our society is not an easy task and it is not an overnight pursuit either. But the good news is that we have made steps and maybe even strides to push forward this endeavor”, she added.

She also assured PIA’s continuing commitment to be partners in community and women empowerment. (JDP/CCD-PIA CAR)
