KORONADAL CITY, South Cotabato (PIA) — Women scientists, researchers and engineers will gather in General Santos City on March 25 for a forum that will promote productivity and career development.
Giselle Eve Siladan, director of the SOCCSKSARGEN Industry, Energy, and Emerging Technology Research and Development Consortium (SOXIEERDC), announced during a recent meeting that a WISER Forum will be held at Avior Hotel in General Santos City where professionals involved in the fields of science and technology, research and development and engineering from across Mindanao are expected to participate.
WISER stands for “Women in Science, Engineering, and Research.”
Siladan said, WISER forum aims to promote scientific productivity of women in science, engineering and research and scientific career system.
Discussions will focus on building supportive work environments for women in science, technology, engineering, and mathematics.
A speaker will also talk about returning to science and research following a career break from marriage or motherhood.
Other topics include ethics in science, technology and innovation and research; predatory conferences and journals; and concepts of gender in research integrity.
Participants will also be briefed about the National Academy of Science and Technology (NAST) and its award opportunities and about the Scientific Career System (SCS) and the benefits and privileges for career scientists.
WISER Forum is hosted by the NAST, in partnership with the SCS and the Department of Science and Technology – SOCCSKSARGEN in line with the celebration of March as National Women’s Month. (DED, PIA Region 12)
