LAGAWE, Ifugao (PIA) — Classes in all levels and work in government offices in the province are suspended today, November 11, until further notice due to the threat of severe tropical storm Nika.
The municipalities of Aguinaldo, Mayoyao, and Alfonso Lista in Ifugao are currently under Tropical Cyclone Wind Signal (TCWS) No. 4, while the remaining municipalities in the province are under TCWS No. 3 as Typhoon Nika intensifies over the sea east of Aurora.
Governor Jerry Dalipog issued Memorandum Order No. 32 for the cancellation of classes and suspension of government work for the general welfare and safety of Ifugaos.
He reminded the public to stay indoors and avoid unnecessary travel, especially in areas prone to flooding or landslides, prepare emergency kits with essential items such as food, water, medicine, flashlights, batteries, and other necessities in case of power outages.
“All are advised to take all precautionary measures and observe everyone’s safety and immediately report any untoward incident to our emergency responders in any disaster risk reduction management offices located near you, or call or text cellphone number 09155188899,” Dalipog stated.
The Provincial Disaster Risk Reduction Management Council Emergency Operation Center and the local DRRMC offices are on heightened alert for the possible impact of Nika in the province. (MBL, PIA CAR, Ifugao)
