MANILA, (PIA) — Malacañang has suspended work in government and classes at all levels in Metro Manila on Tuesday, September 3, due to the effects of Tropical Storm Enteng, known internationally as Yagi.
Executive Secretary Lucas Bersamin, in an order, issued the suspension Monday evening.
The order applies to private schools as well, although the decision to suspend work in private companies and offices will be at the discretion of their respective heads.
As of 5 p.m. Monday, Tropical Storm Enteng was located near Maddela town in Quirino province after making landfall in Aurora province at 2 p.m.
The Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical, and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) reported that Enteng is expected to continue moving north northwestward or northward over Cagayan Valley or the northern Cordillera Administrative Region before turning west northwestward over the Babuyan Channel by Tuesday.
PAGASA indicated that Enteng is likely to maintain its tropical storm status as it traverses mainland Northern Luzon, with further intensification expected late Tuesday evening.
In addition, the enhanced southwest monsoon (habagat) is forecast to bring moderate to intense rainfall to other areas of Luzon and the Visayas over the next three days.
Residents are urged to remain vigilant as conditions may lead to flooding and other hazards. (JCO/PIA-NCR)
