Gov’t workers to get salary increase, med allowance

QUEZON CITY, (PIA) — Good news for workers in the government! President Ferdinand R. Marcos, Jr. announced the increase in pay for state workers, plus a medical allowance starting next year.

During his third State of the Nation Address (SONA) at the Batasang Pambansa Complex in Quezon City on Monday, July 22, Pres. Marcos, Jr. said that the 1.9 million state workers will receive an increase in their salary plus an additional medical allowance.

Para naman sa ating mga kawani ng gobyerno, mayroon silang maaasahang medical allowance bilang karagdagang benepisyo sa susunod na taon.”

At hindi lamang iyon. Mayroon ding napipintong omento sa suweldo na makukuha nila sa apat na tranches. Naglaan na po tayo ng pondo para dito simula sa taong ito at sa mga susunod na taon.”

According to the Department of Budget and Management (DBM), each tranche contains the associated salary rate for each salary grade and step increment. The Office of the President is scheduled to issue an Executive Order with the details regarding the salary increase.

Our civil servants are the backbone of our nation, and it’s our priority to provide them with a fair and motivating compensation system,” said Budget and Management Secretary Amenah F. Pangandaman.

The budget department has previously allocated P36 billion pesos for Personnel Services expenditures under the FY 2024 General Appropriations Act (GAA) to ensure the readiness to implement the salary increase.

Likewise, DBM allocated P70 billion pesos in funds to the 2025 National Expenditure Program to ensure the implementation of the first and second tranches of the salary increase.

Meanwhile, Pres. Marcos, Jr. also announced the extension of services of job order and contract of service personnel in the government.
