Graduating students receive cash aid from Odiongan LGU

ODIONGAN, Romblon (PIA) — All  graduating college and senior high school students who are residents of Odiongan, Romblon have received cash assistance from the Odiongan municipal government.

According to Engineer Reden Escarilla of the Local Youth Development Office (LYDO), the program aims to support students with their academic expenses, especially for thesis work, projects, and graduation-related fees.

Based on LYDO records, 460 graduating college students from Romblon State University and Erhard Systems Technological Institute each received ₱2,500 in financial assistance—an increase of ₱500 compared to the ₱2,000 provided last year.

Meanwhile, 805 graduating senior high school students from both public and private schools in Odiongan received ₱1,000 each in support of their graduation.

This marks the second year of the program offering financial support to graduating college students. This is also the first year that the graduating senior high school students were included in the program

In addition to the cash assistance, several local officials gave motivational talks encouraging students to persevere in their education. Some students also expressed their gratitude to the local government for the support they received.

“This is a big help for me and my family, especially for graduation expenses. We’re thankful to the local government for easing some of our financial burdens,” said Angela, a graduating student from Romblon State University.

The Odiongan LGU continues to encourage students to excel in their studies, reaffirming its ongoing support for education in the municipality. (PJF/PIA MIMAROPA-Romblon)
