‘Greyhound’ operation in Odiongan District Jail yields zero contraband

ODIONGAN, Romblon (PIA) — No contraband was found at the Odiongan District Jail following a greyhound operation by the Bureau of Jail Management and Penology (BJMP)-Odiongan District Jail in coordination with the Bureau of Fire Protection (BFP)-Odiongan Fire Station on January 30.

Jail Officer 3 Joefrie Anglo, the BJMP MIMAROPA Information Officer, told PIA Romblon that “Operation Greyhound” is a routine but essential activity aimed at maintaining peace and order within the jail facility.

“This operation ensures the safety of our Persons Deprived of Liberty (PDLs) and personnel,” Anglo said.

He emphasized that the primary goal of Oplan Greyhound is to uphold strict standards to prevent the entry, use, and movement of contraband within the jail premises.

The operation was conducted following a directive from BJMP MIMAROPA Regional Director Clarence Mayangao, who ordered all jail units to sustain their campaign against contraband. During the inspection, inmates were instructed to vacate their cells and gather at a designated holding area within the facility while their cells were thoroughly searched.

The BJMP-Odiongan team, led by Acting District Jail Warden Jail Senior Inspector Dante Montilla, aims to prevent the entry of prohibited items such as weapons and illegal drugs, ensuring a safer environment conducive to the rehabilitation and development of the 114 PDLs currently under their custody.

Anglo also highlighted that the BJMP has implemented stricter guidelines for families and visitors of PDLs to prevent the smuggling of contraband into the facility.

“We are committed to maintaining the integrity of our jail facilities and ensuring the safety and security of everyone inside,” he said. (PR/PJF/PIA MIMAROPA-Romblon)
