ILOILO CITY (PIA) – – The provincial government of Guimaras has started crafting its 6-year Local Development Plan for Children, its blueprint for the implementation of projects, programs, and activities for the welfare of children in the island province.
A workshop was initiated by the Provincial Council for the Protection of Children (PCPC) as part of the preparation for the crafting of the development plan which will be implemented starting 2026 up to 2031.
The three–day workshop culminated last August 9, 2024.
Members of the PCPC, representatives from other government agencies, municipal health officers, and social welfare officers from the five municipalities of the province participated in the activity held at Nueva Valencia Multi-Purpose Cooperative Hall in Barangay Concordia.
Sangguniang Panlalawigan member and PCPC co-chairperson Cecile C. Gumarin said the workshop was an opportunity to assess the success of the province’s current plan and to determine additional programs to be implemented for the welfare of children in Guimaras.
“In 2022, the province has approved its development plan for children. It is implementable until 2025. From the previous document, we could see the progress sang aton mga kabataan or ang effect sang aton plan for children sa probinsiya kag sa mga municipalities. Diri mabasehan naton kun ano pa gid ang kulang, ano pa gid ang dapat naton nga ubrahon para sa development pa sang aton mga Kabataan,” she said.
(From the previous document, we could see the progress of our children or the effect of our plan for the children of the province and the municipalities. Here, we have a basis of what are still lacking, what more are we going to do for the development of our children).
Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) Field Office 6 Regional Sub-Committee for the Welfare of Children (RSCWC) Coordinator Franz Hermocillas, who was the workshop’s resource person, coached the participants with the step-by-step process of crafting the Children Development Plan and its implementation.
