Guimaras receives 2nd SGLG Seal

ILOILO CITY (PIA) — The province of Guimaras was conferred with the Seal of Good Local Governance (SGLG) by the Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG) for the second consecutive year, demonstrating its consistent achievements in several core areas of governance.

Governor JC Rahman A. Nava, MD together with DILG-Guimaras Provincial Director Roselyn B. Quintana and Congresswoman Ma. Lucille L. Nava, MD accepted the award in the awarding ceremony held on December 9, 2024 at Manila Hotel.

Guimaras was among the 41 provinces in the country that passed the 2024 assessment and conferred with the coveted seal this year, which it also earned in 2023.

The municipality of Nueva Valencia was also among the 577 municipalities in the countries recognized as SGLG awardee this year.  Mayor Paul Vincent De La Cruz received the award.

The SGLG, bestowed by the DILG, serves as the highest accolade for local government units (LGUs) in the country that have demonstrated excellence in key performance areas that include Financial Administration and Sustainability; Disaster Preparedness; Social Protection and Sensitivity; Health Compliance and Responsiveness; Safety, Peace and Order; Business-Friendliness and Competitiveness; Environmental Management; Tourism, Heritage Development, Culture and Arts; Sustainable Education; and Youth Development.
