ICYMI: Former President Rodrigo Duterte made his first virtual appearance before the International Criminal Court (ICC) in The Hague on March 14.
His lawyer, Salvador Medialdea, argued that Duterte was denied his rights, stating that his client could not participate in the hearing or confirm if he had been informed of the charges. Medialdea requested a postponement, which was denied.
However, Presiding Judge Iulia Motoc clarified that this was only an initial hearing to inform Duterte of his rights and charges, with a full process ahead leading to the Confirmation of Charges.
