MANOLO FORTICH, Bukidnon (PIA) — In Bukidnon’s rural communities, where healthcare and essential medicines are scarce, Hedcor and Aboitiz Foundation Inc. (AFI) expanded free medicine access through “Botika ng Bayan” (BNB), ensuring Indigenous Peoples (IPs) and the elderly receive the care they need.
This initiative helps residents access essential medicines, supporting their right to quality healthcare.
The program allocates P250,000 worth of medicines to each Botika ng Bayan, tailored by local health leaders to meet community needs. It includes essential maintenance medicines for the elderly, ensuring even the most remote barangays have access to vital healthcare.
“Our goal is to bring immediate and accessible health care to communities that often lack these resources. This support from Hedcor and Aboitiz Foundation is a true gift that directly meets the needs of our residents, especially our Indigenous families,” said Mayor Rogelio Quiño of Manolo Fortich during the turnover ceremony.
Hedcor Vice President for Corporate Services Noreen Vicencio emphasized the project’s importance.
“Access to free quality medicine is a basic right. We are honored to work with the Aboitiz Foundation to protect this right in our communities,” she said.
Vicencio said Hedcor’s initiatives have benefited over 50,000 residents this year. The expanded Botika ng Bayan reflects the company’s commitment to Sustainable Development Goal 3 on Health and Well-being and its ongoing efforts to build lasting health solutions in the region.
“Hedcor and Aboitiz Foundation’s support is a lifeline for our town. Access to these medicines improves the quality of life and reduces health obstacles, especially for our elderly and vulnerable groups,” said Mayor Anthony A. Uy of Impasugong.
Through initiatives like this, Hedcor and Aboitiz Foundation invest in Bukidnon’s health and strengthen communities, building a foundation for sustainable growth. (KM/Hedcor/PIA 10/Bukidnon)
