Hog raisers affected by ASF receive cash aid from DSWD

ODIONGAN, Romblon (PIA) – Hog raisers affected by African Swine Fever (ASF) in the towns of Cajidiocan and San Fernando received aid from the Department of Social Welfare and Development on November 10.

According to Social Welfare and Development Team Leader Abegail Fetilo, the cash aid is funded by the Assistance to Individuals in Crisis Situation (AICS) program.

A total of 688 hog raisers were given aid in the town of San Fernando and 905 in the town of Cajidiocan.

Fetilo said that the beneficiaries were verified by the Municipal Agriculture Office of their respective towns so they were among those who were given aid.

These are the hog raisers whose pigs have died or who are unable to sell pigs due to illness. The hog raisers received P2,000 in aid.

Meanwhile, the Provincial Government led by Governor Jose Riano also distributed aid to hog raisers whose pigs have been verified to have died due to the disease.

Fetilo said that their verification will continue to provide assistance to others affected by the disease on the island, even to the hog raisers on the island of Tablas who are also affected by the virus. (PJF/PIA Mimaropa – Romblon)
