In a statement released on March 19, Bishop Gerardo A. Alminaza said the Diocese of San Carlos welcomes the arrest and detention of former president Rodrigo Roa Duterte by the International Criminal Court (ICC) to answer charges of murder as a crime against humanity.
Bishop Alminaza said this development is a big leap towards finding justice for the victims of the Duterte regime’s bloody war on drugs and bringing hope and peace to the families and friends of those who perished and were denied fair trials.
The Roman Catholic Bishop of San Carlos then urged the public to be “always guided to protect life and pursue justice” and follow God’s pleading — “Though shall not Kill!”
