MANILA, (PIA) — House of Representatives Information and communication technology (ICT) Chairperson and Navotas Representative Toby Tiangco welcomed the Department of Social Welfare and Development’s (DSWD) digital initiatives aimed at improving service delivery.
Tiangco praised the DSWD’s newly launched online donation platform and one-stop-shop online system, which align with President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr.’s directive to leverage technology for more accessible government services.
“We appreciate DSWD’s commitment to President Marcos’ vision. We hope other government agencies follow suit, as the growing demand for online government services underscores the critical role of digital ecosystems in efficient service delivery,” Tiangco said.
He noted that the combination of digitalization and the government’s streamlining efforts has significantly boosted efficiency in government processes.
Tiangco highlighted DSWD’s Harmonized Electronic License and Permit System (HELPS), which is expected to enhance the agency’s regulatory services.
“According to DSWD, HELPS allows clients to file applications for registration, license to operate, and accreditation in only 20 minutes, with certificates available as quickly as 14 days. This is a huge improvement from the manual process, which could take three to six months and require multiple in-person visits,” Tiangco explained.
“This proves how vital digitalization is in government transactions. These programs will undoubtedly provide Filipinos with faster and more responsive services,” he added. (JCO/PIA-NCR)
