BAYOMBONG, Nueva Vizcaya (PIA) — House Speaker Ferdinand Martin Romualdez has allotted P15 million to augment the needs of the marginalized sectors in Nueva Vizcaya.
Governor Jose Gambito said the fund was from the House of Representatives to help poor Novo Vizcayanos cope with the rising cost of living.
A part of the fund amounting to P7.5 million has been distributed to 1,873 elderlies from various barangays of Sta. Fe town where each recipient received P4,000, according to the governor.
He said the financial assistance was under the Assistance to Individuals in Crisis Situations program of the Department of Social Welfare and Development.
“Our senior citizens in the upland town of Ambaguio will also receive similar aid under this program,” Gambito said.
The AICS program is designed to assist financially challenged individuals facing crises, helping them meet their essential needs.
The program provides various services including financial assistance for medical, burial, transportation, food, and other immediate needs.
It aims to provide timely and responsive aid to individuals and families experiencing sudden and unexpected crises, ensuring they have the necessary resources to overcome their challenges.
Gambito also bared that P 15 million under the ‘Ayuda sa Kapos ang Kita’ program of the DSWD was also sourced out.
The AKAP program aims to protect minimum wage earners from the adverse effects of inflation, which can lessen their purchasing power.
Governor Gambito said workers from the transportation sector, particularly tricycle drivers be given P5,000 each to augment their daily needs. (BME/PIA NVizcaya)
