PAGADIAN CITY (PIA) – The city government here recently handed over 100 titles to the indigenous people (IPs) in Barangay Lison Valley as part of its large-scale housing project in collaboration with the National Housing Authority (NHA).
The tribal village comprises 100 housing units provided for free, valued at over P23.4 million, with an additional P1.5 million allocated for an access road leading to the village.
The IP community of Barangay Lison Valley expressed gratitude for finally owning their homes and lots. One of the beneficiaries, Vencio Bawan, expressed his heartfelt thanks to the city government and the NHA for this life-changing project.
“Dako kaayo akoang pasalamat ilabina sa atong city mayor ug sa uban pang ahensya ilabina sa NHA. Perti namong lipaya aning project sa gobyerno ug dako kaayo gyud mi ug pasalamat,” he said.
(I am very thankful, especially to our city mayor and the other agencies, especially the NHA. We are very happy with this government project, and we are very grateful.)
In his report on June 8, City Mayor Samuel Co expressed hopes for the success of this initiative.
“Ang ako lang man, ang City Government makatabang man lang sa atong katawhan. Ang katong wala gyuy luna pa, mao sa gyuy unahon namog hatag. Gusto man gud nato nga muabot gyud ang panahon nga tanan gyud tawo sa Pagadian unta naa gyuy kaugalingong luna,” he stated.
(My only intention is for the city government to help our people. Those who do not have land yet, they are the ones we will prioritize. We really want the time to come when everyone in Pagadian will have their own land.)
To enhance the living conditions in the village, around 25 solar lights will be installed to illuminate the area. The city government is also overseeing the ongoing water supply project and the repairs to the road leading to Lison Valley. (EDT/HTB/PIA9-Zamboanga del Sur with reports from Asenso Pagadian)
