HRAB opens Hotel and Restaurant Tourism Week with Rice N’ Shine 3.0

BAGUIO CITY (PIA) — The Hotel and Restaurant Association of Baguio (HRAB) offered more than 15,000 servings of 15 varieties of fried rice to the public for free at the SM City Baguio Atrium on October 4.

Dubbed as Rice N’ Shine 3.0, the highlight of the opening ceremony of HRAB’s 17th Hotel and Restaurant Tourism (HRT) Week, showcased a 28 feet in diameter pan with 15 fried rice varieties from 12 HRAB member establishments.

For the Rice and Shine centerpiece, the following establishments prepared their fried rice recipes: Baguio Country Club-Vietnamese Fried Rice, The Fairways and Greens Bread and Breakfast-Adobo Fried Rice, City Lights Hotel-Salted Fish fried rice, The Orchard Hotel and King Chef Dimsum Kitchen-Paella con carne and yang Chow fried rice, The Lafayette Luxury Suites-Highland Yakimeshi with Pinuneg and Kiniing and a twist of Japanese fried rice and the Tinapa Fried Rice, The Hill Station- Cajun Jambalaya, Mario’s- Smoked Pork Paella, Alabanza- longanisa Recado and hamonado fried rice, Hotel Supreme- Beef Pares Supreme Fried Rice and Binagoongan fried rice with daing na bangus, Forest Lodge at Camp John Hay- Tuyo Fried Rice, and the Manor at Camp John Hay- Lechon Kawali Fried Rice.

HRAB President and Baguio Country Club President Anthony De Leon expressed gratitude to all the partners for the Rice N’ Shine 3.0, which was intended to provide the public with 15,000 to 16,000 servings of various fried rice recipes for free.

The Rice N’ Shine 3.0 centerpiece was also HRAB’s small way to show support to the Filipino farmers, he added.

For the 17th HRT Weekend, De Leon shared that HRAB will have tourism events every weekend this October, to be capped by the culinary and tourism competitions in the last week.

“We will not only feature Baguio as a wedding and honeymoon destination or a summer capital of the Philippines, we would like to highlight as well that Baguio is a culinary destination,” De Leon said.

Baguio City Mayor Benjamin Magalong expressed the city government’s gratitude to HRAB for the 17 years of holding the HRT Weekend attractions and for their invaluable support, especially in the aspect of promoting the Baguio tourism industry. (JDP/CCD-PIA CAR)
