QUEZON CITY (PIA) – More than 700 participants attended the 2024 Regional Science, Technology and Innovation Week (RSTW) in Quezon City indulging themselves in the exciting showcase of science, technology and innovations in the metro.
The three-day science fest formally opened on Wednesday, October 30 as the Department of Science and Technology – National Capital Region (DOST-NCR) brought the latest in Philippine science, technology and innovations.

In partnership with the Quezon City Government, the science fest ran from October 29 to 31, 2024 at the Amoranto Arena, Diliman, Quezon City.
Present during the opening are DOST Secretary Renato Solidum, Quezon City Mayor Joy Belmonte and DOST-NCR Regional Director Romelen Tresvalles.

“So together, let us redefine resilience through science and technology in the spirit of collaboration and localization at the LGU level, as a powerful force for sustainable development,” said Secretary Solidum.
“It is my hope that the activities in this RSTW will become the platform for engaging in meaningful discussions about not just what we can do about science and technology, but what we should do,” said Mayor Belmonte.
For her statement, Director Tresvalles highlighted the importance of such meaningful events with science and technology exhibitions.
“By showcasing their work and encouraging collaboration, we aim to inspire the next generation of leaders and changemakers to take an active role in shaping a greener, more innovative future for us all,” said Director Tresvalles.

Anchored on the theme, “Bridging Science, Technology, and Green Economy Solutions in the Metro,” it features an array of exciting activities.
It includes science community tours in the different attached agencies of DOST. Fireside Chat Sessions that will discuss various innovative topics for sustainable development, contests, plenaries, exhibits and bazaar.
The RSTW is an annual event done every month of October highlighting the practical applications of science and technology in the lives of communities nationwide. (JVD/PIA-NCR)
