ILOILO CITY (PIA) – – Operatives of the Iloilo City Police Office (ICPO) have arrested five drug personalities and seized approximately 210 grams of shabu worth some P1.43 million during the anti-illegal drugs operations conducted within 24 hours – from 4:00 A.M on September 10 to 4:00 A.M. on September 11, 2024.
ICPO Director PCol Kim P Legada commended the operatives for their relentless efforts in combating illegal drugs.
“This success reflects the ICPO’s commitment to ensure the safety and security of our community. We will continue to work together and tirelessly fight against the illegal drug trade that harms our society,” said PCol Legada in the agency’s press report.
ICPO reported that an intelligence-driven operation led by the Iloilo City Drug Enforcement Unit (CDEU), with support from Iloilo City Police Station 4 (ICPS4), resulted in the arrest of a high-value individual involved in the illicit drug trade. The arrest took place at 11:32 p.m. in Brgy. San Pedro, Molo, Iloilo City.
The operation led to the seizure of approximately 150 grams of suspected shabu, valued at P1,020,000.00.
The suspect, identified as alias Boss, 28, single, and a resident of Brgy. Pinantan, Ajuy, Iloilo, was found in possession of 26 transparent plastic sachets containing suspected shabu, along with buy-bust items, buy-bust money and other related items.
In a separate buy-bust operation at 10:00 p.m., in Brgy. Tabuc Suba in Jaro district police operatives from Iloilo City Police Station 9 (ICPS9) arrested street-level individuals identified as alias Jovan, 33, and alias Jay, 34, both single and residents of the said village. The recovered suspected shabu weighed approximately 35 grams, with an estimated value of PHP 238,000.00.
At 2:00 p.m. on the same day, Iloilo City Police Station 5 (ICPS5) arrested alias Jer, 44, single, a resident of Brgy. Hibao-an Norte, and alias Manny, 49, single, from Brgy. Guzman-Jesena, Mandurriao. The arrest occurred in Brgy. Calajunan, in Mandurriao district. Approximately 25 grams of suspected shabu, with an estimated value of PHP 170,000.00, were seized.
The arrested individuals are in police custody and will face charges for violations of Republic Act 9165, or the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002, according to ICPO. (AAL/LAF/PIA6-Iloilo)
