ILOILO CITY (PIA) – – The Iloilo City Police Office (ICPO) seized close to 5,000 grams of suspected shabu, with an estimated value of P32.7 million in 56 separate police operations conducted from October 1 to 31 this year in this city.
The 31-day anti-illegal drug campaign also resulted in the arrest of 82 suspects that include 32 who were identified as high-value individuals and 50 street level individuals.
Based on the ICPO’s press report, the City Drug Enforcement Unit has recorded the highest volume of seizures with approximately 2,610 grams of suspected shabu worth P17,748,000.00 from the eight operations it conducted.
Among the ten city police stations, the largest confiscation was done by the Iloilo City Police Station 1 (ICPS1) with approximately 668 grams of shabu seized, valued at P4,542,400.00. This was followed by ICPS4, which seized 477 grams of suspected shabu valued at P3,243,600.00, along with the arrest of 16 suspects.
ICPO Director Police Colonel Kim P. Legada lauded the operatives for their sustained, focused, and relentless efforts in the fight against illegal drugs.
He said these achievements reflect their dedication and commitment to their sworn duties to protect the community from the harms of illegal drugs.
“Let us continue building strong trust and confidence with our community as we work toward a drug-free city. Unity is key as we triumph in our fight against the drugs that harm our society,” said Legada.
The suspects are now in police custody and will face charges for violations of Republic Act 9165, or the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002. (AAL/LAF/PIA6-Iloilo/ICPO)
