LAMUT, Ifugao (PIA) –The Ifugao State University (IFSU) gets closer to the realization of its vision to become a globally recognized university upholding excellence.
IFSU entered the UI Greenmetric World University Rankings (UIGWUR) for 2023 securing the 912th rank globally among the 1,183 universities that underwent a rigorous assessment process.
In the Philippines, only 22 universities including two from the Cordillera region – IFSU and Saint Louis University – have earned spot in this prestigious world ranking this year.
IFSU President Dr. Eva Marie Codamon-Dugyon witnessed the unveiling of the results during the UIGWUR ceremony held at Abu Dhabi University in Dubai on December 5, 2023.
Initiated by Universitas Indonesia in 2010, the UIGWUR focuses on ranking green campuses and environmental sustainability. The UI Greenmetric believes that universities play an integral role in the joint effort between stakeholders and communities in combating climate change.
UIGWUR prudently determined the rankings based on the universities’ environmental commitment and initiatives through 39 indicators across six criteria that include Setting and Infrastructure, Energy and Climate Change, Waste, Water, Transportation, and Education.
Dugyon said this UIGWUR recognition significantly enhances IFSU’s reputation as a leader in sustainability. It serves as a powerful motivator for continuous improvement and provides a valuable benchmark to measure progress, identify areas for further development, and contribute to more sustainable futures, aligning with collective efforts for the Sustainable Development Goals. She cited that IFSU graduates, armed with a strong understanding of sustainability, are now highly sought-after candidates in the job market.
Dugyon extended gratitude to the IFSU team and the Commission on Higher Education for their assistance, commitment, and support in this endeavor.
“May our global ranking inspire us more to continue improving, striding forward, and creating positive impact for God’s glory,” Dugyon stated in a social media post. (JDP/FBR- PIA CAR, Ifugao)
