Ifugao BFP units declared drug-free work places

LAGAWE, Ifugao (PIA) — All the offices of the Bureau of Fire Protection (BFP) units in the province of Ifugao are declared as drug-free workplaces.

The Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA) made the declaration on February 24, and awarded  certificates of confirmation to the BFP Provincial Office and the 11 Municipal Fire Stations.

BFP-Ifugao acting Provincial Fire Marshal (PFM) Senior Inspector Adler Acosta and the 11 municipal fire marshals with their respective municipal local government operation officers received the certifications from PDEA-Ifugao Provincial Officer Dick Dayao who represented PDEA-Cordillera Regional Director Derrick Arnold Carreon.

“This initiative supports the government’s efforts to address the ongoing problem on illegal drugs. The total absence of drug use among employees shows that we, as public servants, can be fully trusted by the community,” Carreon  said.

He praised the BFP-Ifugao units for successfully implementing a drug-free workplace policy and program, and the first provincial office in the Cordillera to receive the certification conferred by the PDEA.

He said that the PDEA-Cordillera is eager to collaborate with the BFP in implementing a comprehensive approach to strengthen communities and help them withstand the challenges and threats posed by the drug abuse.

Carreon also hopes that more agencies and law enforcement units in the province adopt similar initiatives.

Acosta  thanked the personnel of all the BFP units in the province for their efforts and dedication  in achieving  this milestone showcasing the integrity of the institution.

“As we move forward, let this declaration be a daily reminder of our duty to serve with honor, to uphold discipline and to reject anything that can tarnish our integrity. Let us be active defenders of our work place, ensuring that it remains a place of integrity, responsibility and professionalism,” he said.

He also assured the continuous monitoring of the implementation of all needed programs and services including the actions of the personnel to sustain a drug-free workplace and agency as a whole. (JDP/MBL-PIA CAR, Ifugao)
