Ifugao PDRRMC-EOC on red alert for typhoon ‘Marce

LAGAWE, Ifugao(PIA) — The alert status of the Provincial Disaster Risk Reduction Management Council Emergency Operation Center (PDRRMC-EOC) was heightened at 12:00 noon Wednesday (Nov. 6) as typhoon Marce continues to traverse Northern Luzon.

Governor Jerry Dalipog issued Memorandum No. 31 placing the PDRRMC-EOC from blue alert to red alert status to ensure regular monitoring, preparedness and response to achieve a zero casualty in the province.

Dalipog is advising the local DRRMCs and the public to take all necessary measures to protect life and properties.

“Persons living in areas identified to be highly susceptible to hazards are advised to follow evacuation order and other instruction from local authorities,” he said.

The PDRRMC conducted a Pre-Disaster Risk Assessment (PDRA) meeting for the needed preparation to mitigate the possible impacts of typhoon “Marce” in the province.

The Department of Social Welfare and Development-Social Welfare and Development Office informed that food and non-food items were prepositioned in the different municipalities. These include 3,724 family food packs, 610 hygiene kits, 648 family kits, 660 sleeping kits, 648 kitchen kits, 315 modular tent and 19 family tents.

The National Food Authority assured sufficient rice buffer stocks in the province. A total of 1,647 bags of 50 kilos rice are stocked in NFA warehouses ready for hauling when needed.

As of 5:00 pm, Nov. 6, 2024, Ifugao remains under Tropical Cyclone Wind Signal No. 1 as Typhoon “Marce” continues to move slowly over the waters East of Northern Cagayan. (JDP/MBL-PIA CAR, Ifugao)
