Ifugao PPO leads solidarity pact signing for peaceful May elections

LAGAWE, Ifugao (PIA) — In continuing efforts to ensure a  peaceful, honest and credible  May 2025 National and Local Elections in the province, the Ifugao Police Provincial Office (IPPO)  and the Commission on Elections recently spearheaded the solidarity pact  signing  among candidates, government agencies,  non-government organizations, and other stakeholders. 

IPPO Provincial Director Colonel Jeremias Oyawon said that ensuring a peaceful, transparent and credible elections is everyone’s obligation.

“As we affix our signatures, there should be a pledge of commitment  to work for the integrity, to actively promote culture of peace, truth and accountability,” he added.

The solidarity pact was signed  the candidates for various local positions,  and  representatives of the Provincial Local Government Unit, 54th Infantry Battalion of the 5th Infantry Division, Bureau of Fire Protection, Bureau of Jail Management and Penology, National Police Commission, , Department of Education, Philippine Information Agency, religious sector and other guests.

The signatories  committed to ensure a secure, accurate, free, and fair elections by promoting peace and order, upholding the rule of law, fostering unity and civic responsibility in protecting the right to vote of every Filipino, thus, rejecting all forms of hate and misinformation that could undermine the unity and harmony of our nation.

“With this pledge, we  reaffirm our shared objective of a peaceful, just, and democratic Philippines where every Filipino, regardless of creed and culture, is empowered to make each voice heard through the election process.”

Provincial Election Supervisor Atty. Ricardo Bulintao enjoined all aspiring candidates to promote peaceful, orderly and honest election in the province and  protect the sanctity of the ballot and integrity of democracy.

“The Commission on Elections cannot do it all alone. May I appeal to everybody especially the candidates to participate in addressing  the problem of vote buying. With the help of everyone, vote buying will be controlled. We should do away with vote buying to safeguard the sanctity of the ballot,” Bulintao said. (JDP/MBL- PIA CAR, Ifugao)
