LAMUT, Ifugao (PIA) — The Local Government Unit (LGU) of Alfonso Lista has banned the selling, distribution and drinking of alcoholic beverages in public places to ensure public safety, and efficient and effective disaster response in the area.
Mayor Edralin Alipio stated that the ban is in effect during the duration of tropical storm “Kristine” or until a formal declaration is made by the Municipal Disaster Risk Reduction Management Council (MDRRMC) lifting the ban once public safety is no longer compromised.
“It shall apply to all establishments, vendors and individuals except to hotels and similar establishments catering to guests, provided that alcohol consumption is strictly limited to private room and not in common areas or public places,” he said.
The Philippine National Police, in coordination with barangay officials and the Municipal Public Safety, enforce the local directive.
Individual offenders will be given a warning for the first offense and a fine of P500 for subsequent violations while business establishments may face suspension or revocation of permits and licenses. (MBL, PIA CAR, Ifugao)
