LAGAWE, Ifugao (PIA) — The construction of a long-dreamed zipline project to help promote the tourism industry in Alfonso Lista town will soon be realized with the ground breaking of project recently.
The zipline will be constructed at the Municipal Eco Park (MEP) – 1,000 Steps as contained in the Municipal Tourism Development Plan, to attract more tourists and eventually create jobs for the community.
The Municipal Tourism Office explained that the first tower of the zipline was designed after the famous Paris’ Eiffel Tower, and the second tower will have a wall for climbing/ rappelling. The project is expected to be completed by February next year.
With this development project, Alfonso Lista continues to set a mark as the newest ecotourism destination in Ifugao, etching its name in Ifugao tourism and in the Cordilleras with the frequently visited MEP – 1,000 Steps and the Birdwatching Site with its unique landscape and home to a number of migratory birds and the endemic Philippine ducks, the MTO added.
Mayor Edralin Alipio said that tourism development is one of the priority programs of his administration not only to give pride to the municipality but provide employment as well.
“This is in line with the national government’s goal to develop tourism for income generation and employment,” he added.
Some of the implemented projects at the MEP under Mayor Alipio’s administration include access road, comfort room, three umbrella sheds, view deck, and tower, hanging bridge, and the continuing planting – landscaping with flowers. On deck are swimming pool with solar-powered water pump, cottages and amenities.
Vice Mayor Agapito Dominguez said that the success of the tourism projects will bring development in the municipality, and this will become a pride of the future generation. He enjoined barangay officials to continuously support the tourism development efforts. (JDP/MBL-PIA CAR, Ifugao)
