Ifugao town cuts curfew for minors this holiday season

LAGAWE, Ifugao (PIA) — Minors in Mayoyao town can be outside their residences a little longer at night  this holiday season with the curfew  reduced by one-hour.

Mayor Jimmy Padchanan Jr.,  upon the recommendation of the Sangguniang Bayan, issued Memorandum Order 2023-23 temporarily suspending the 8:00 PM to 5:00 AM current curfew hours for minors.  Curfew now  starts at 9:00 PM  until  5:00AM . The  new curfew hours for minors  is from  December 11  to  31 this year only.

This would allow children more time  to  enjoy the Christmas lights, decorations, displays and  other festivities in  the community.

The Mayoyao curfew ordinance for minors was approved in 2016 and being implemented since then.

Padchanan also included also in his memorandum the policies and regulations in the conduct of the “LGU’s Pailaw” and display of Christmas lights and decorations in the municipality for a peaceful and orderly activity.

Unruly behavior shall not be tolerated and are cause for immediate eviction from the premises; strictly no vaping and smoking in public places; no minors/children be allowed to loiter after 9:00PM; intoxicated, drunk and under the influence of liquor is not allowed within the premises and no establishment is allowed sell or dispense any alcoholic drinks or beverages to minors and the Christmas lights will be turned-off at 9:00 in the evening by the security guard.

Spitting of “moma” (betel spittle) anywhere is also prohibited. Betel nut chewers are encouraged  to carry their own spitting receptacles and bring home after use. The establishment owners shall be held fully accountable for the desirable sanitation of their  respective places.

Violators will be penalized in the amount of P500.00 for the first offense and P1,000.00 for the second and succeeding offenses. Police officers, LGU security guards, and other authorized peace keepers will implement the said order.  (JDP/MBL-PIA-CAR-Ifugao)
