Ifugao town MPOC promotes liquor-free election campaign

LAGAWE, Ifugao (PIA) – The election campaign sorties of local and national candidates for the May 12 national and local elections in the municipality of Asipulo will be liquor-free.

The Municipal Peace and Order Council (MPOC) of Asipulo passed a resolution prohibiting political candidates and parties and their supporters from distributing alcoholic drinks during  campaign activities such as  rallies, caucus and other related events in the municipality.

The MPOC cited  Section 16 of Republic Act No. 7160, otherwise known as the Local Government Code of 1991,  which mandates local government units to promote the general welfare, particularly ensuring peace and order within their respective jurisdictions.

All barangay local government units are directed to adopt the resolution in their respective barangays to strengthen the implementation of said resolution.

The 45 days campaign period for candidates for House of Representatives and other local posts  starts on March 28  and ends on  May 10, 2025. (JDP/MBL- PIA CAR, Ifugao)
