LAGAWE, Ifugao (PIA) — The Ifugao Police Provincial Office (IPPO) reported that the crime volume of the province dropped by 31.57 percent in 2024 compared to 2023.
Police Lieutenant Neva Jane Alzate of the IPPO disclosed that the province recorded 50 crime incidents in 2023 compared to 38 in 2024, or a decrease of 12 cases. Among the focus crimes, rape is still on top with 12 cases, followed murder, physical injury and theft with six each, homicide with five, robbery with two, and carnapping of motorcycle, one.
Alzate stressed that efforts of police personnel in performing their mandates, and the support of the community are among the factors in the decrease of crime volume of the province.
Newly installed IPPO Acting Provincial Director, Police Colonel Jeremias Oyawon assured that the IPPO will maintain a peaceful province with the support of the public to propel development.
“Let us stand united in our commitment to building a safer and more prosperous Ifugao. Together, we can turn our aspirations into reality and leave a legacy of progress and resilience for future generations,” Oyawon stated.
He disclosed that priority programs and services will be implemented like enhancing community involvement, improving peace and order, environmental protection and cultural heritage preservation, protecting human lights, arresting wanted persons, and resolving unsolved cases.
