CITY OF ILAGAN, Isabela (PIA) – The City of Ilagan Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office (CDRRMO) recently conducted a Barangay Disaster Responders Training to bolster emergency response capabilities at the community level.
The training was aimed at strengthening the skills and knowledge of local responders in handling emergencies and calamities.
A total of 230 members of the Barangay Peacekeeping Action Teams (BPATs) from 23 barangays in the city participated in the training, which included both lectures and hands-on rescue operations held at the city’s community center.
CDRRM Officer Geralyn Gañgan emphasized that the training is designed to mobilize and empower responders, ensuring that they can provide immediate assistance during times of crisis.
Specialized training on rescue and response operations was provided by experts from the City of Ilagan Police Station (CIPS), Bureau of Fire Protection (BFP), CDRRMO, and Liga ng mga Barangay, aiming to enhance overall community safety.
In addition to rescue techniques, members of the City of Ilagan Police Station conducted sessions on police intervention strategies, Arnis-based self-defense, and arresting and disarming techniques to further equip BPAT members for various emergencies. (OTB/MGE/PIA Isabela)
