Iligan City to showcase investment potential at Manila roadshow on July

ILIGAN CITY (PIA) — The city government here is set to showcase the investment potential of the city through an investment roadshow scheduled in Manila on July 19 at Edsa Shangri-La, Manila.

The roadshow will feature various activities, including presentations on potential investment opportunities, business matching sessions, and networking opportunities. 

This initiative aims to provide an avenue for Iligan City to position itself as a favorable destination for business ventures.

Glenn Villacin, executive director of the Iligan Investments, Incentives, and Promotions Center, emphasized the importance of the first Iligan Investment Roadshow, set to take place in Metro Manila. This event marks a significant promotional effort for the city, given that many corporate headquarters are based there. He also mentioned the expected participation of key stakeholders such as chief executive officers or presidents of major companies, industry leaders, chambers of commerce from various countries, and more.

“The plan here is to go to Manila and to present Iligan in a way that we can attract investors nga makadani kita og mamuhunan nga negosyante sa Iligan ug ilang ibubo ilang kwarta diri sa nagkalain-lain nga industriya. Duna kita 21 nga mga industries or preferred areas of investment. Mao ato ipresent sa ila,” he said during a media forum.  

(The plan here is to go to Manila and present Iligan in a way that we can attract investors, encouraging entrepreneurs to invest their money in various industries here. We have identified 21 industries or preferred areas of investment, and we will present these to them.)

Meanwhile, Councilor and Chairperson of the Committee on Trade, Commerce, and Industry, Lawyer Marlene Young, said the roadshow aims to attract both local and international investors by showcasing Iligan’s assets and opportunities, as well as make it more accessible and appealing for business ventures.

Moreover, Department of Trade and Industry-Lanao del Norte Provincial Director Jane Marie Tabucan emphasized that investment promotion is a core function of their agency. She also shared that investors in Iligan can benefit from both local and national incentives, including those under the Strategic Investment Priority Plan. 

“There are priority investment areas, which will be discussed during the investment roadshow. This will also showcase Iligan City as very ready to accommodate not only local investors but also foreign investors,” she said. 

During the roadshow, discussions will also center on Iligan’s strategic advantages, including its recognition as the Waterfalls Capital of the Philippines and the growing freelance job market. (LELA/PIA-10/Lanao del Norte)
