SAN FERNANDO CITY, La Union (PIA) — The Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) will stage a trade fair dubbed “Rimat Ti Amianan” in the Metro to give more people a glimpse and taste of the local products of the Ilocos Region.
According to DTI Ilocos Assistant Regional Director Merlie Membrere, the Rimat Ti Amianan is an Ilocano phrase that means ‘brilliance of the North’.
“It will feature the rich and beautiful tapestry of the Ilocos Region’s tradition, excellence, and innovation,” Membrere said.
The public is invited to visit the trade fair at the Carousel Court of Festival Mall in Alabang, Muntinlupa City, from December 4-8, 2024, and have a variety of food and non-food products to choose from the 70 local exhibitors.
The DTI will feature the famous “inabel,” or the local handwoven textiles of the North, the intricately designed wood furniture, and other handicrafts like bags, baskets, and trays made of rattan, corn, and bamboo.
Consumers may also enjoy the different food items like camote and banana chips, powdered malunggay juice, chichacorn, pastillas, atchara, gourmet bangus, longganisa, and many more.
Membrere noted how the trade fair will boost and help the micro, small, and medium enterprises (MSMEs) in the region.
“We are bringing our local products outside the region as we want to capture a wider market and entice major and institutional buyers from the capital region,” she said.
The trade department calls for the public to support MSMEs and their local products and encourages them to choose local items for gifts and giveaways this holiday season.
“Please visit the trade fair and choose the ‘Tatak Lokal’ products, especially for your giveaways this holiday season,” she said.
This year’s “Rimat Ti Amianan” is a comeback of the said trade fair since it was last staged in 2019 and was impeded due to the pandemic. (AMB/CGCC, PIA Region 1)
