Ilocos police intensify security measures for safe holiday season

SAN FERNANDO CITY, La Union (PIA)— To ensure a safe and secure holiday season in the Ilocos Region, the Police Regional Office-1 (PRO-1) has committed to significantly bolstering police presence throughout the region.

This enhanced security posture aims to safeguard residents and visitors alike during the upcoming celebrations of Christmas and New Year.

To solidify this effort, the PRO-1 has intensified partnerships with local government units (LGUs) and key stakeholders.

PRO-1 Regional Director, Police Brigadier General Lou Evangelista, ensured that all Philippine National Police personnel in the region remain proactive this season.

“With the cooperation of our partner agencies and stakeholders, we remain committed to ensuring a safe and joyous Christmas celebration for everyone,” he stated.

Among the interventions of the PRO-1 during the Yuletide season are anti-criminality strategies and public safety measures to safeguard residents and tourists alike.

To ensure public safety during the holiday season, law enforcement efforts are focused on strategic deployment of personnel, particularly in areas of high public congregation such as malls, churches, markets, transportation hubs, resorts, and tourist destinations.

Comprehensive traffic management plans are in place to mitigate congestion during peak travel periods and holiday activities.

To further enhance safety, police checkpoints have been established at strategic locations, and the sale of firecrackers and pyrotechnics is being strictly monitored for compliance with all safety regulations.

Designated firecracker zones and community display areas will be closely supervised by regional police personnel to prevent accidents and ensure adherence to local ordinances.

Meanwhile, assistance hubs and police assistance desks have been set up at major thoroughfares, churches, airports, seaports, and transportation terminals to provide immediate assistance to the public.

Quick response teams remain on heightened alert, ready to respond to emergencies and conduct high-risk law enforcement operations across the four provincial police offices within Region 1.

Furthermore, PRO-1 urged the public to remain vigilant, promptly report any suspicious activities to authorities, and strictly adhere to all safety guidelines.

To expedite police assistance, PRO-1 encourages the public to utilize the iPOLICE eBuzz-ER mobile app, which is readily available for download on both the Play Store and App Store. (AMB/REB/PIA Region 1)
