If Ilocos Sur is on your travel list this year, make sure to include a visit to the newly improved Ilocos Sur Adventure Zone—it’s packed with fun and adrenaline-filled activities.
The provincial government of Ilocos Sur officially reopened the Adventure Zone in Barangay Banaoang, Bantay on April 15, following repairs after Super Typhoon Egay (International Name: Doksuri) damaged some of its facilities in July 2023.
Now open to guests aged four and up, the Adventure Zone offers a variety of exhilarating attractions, including a roller coaster zipline, rope courses, wall climbing, and more.
According to the provincial government, the Adventure Zone reflects the journey of the people of Ilocos Sur—overcoming challenges, embracing innovation, and staying true to their dreams of a better future.
“The reopening of the adventure zone will not only attract visitors but also strengthen Ilocos Sur’s position as a top adventure and eco-tourism destination,” the provincial government stated.
Michelle Adolfo, officer-in-charge of the Provincial Tourism Office, said the upgraded rope course now includes nine activities: snake bridge, cylindrical trail combi, stacked bridge, cargo net, tire combi, bike bar, wire bridge, plate bridge, and saddle steps.
She added that rappelling, wall climbing, and kayaking are still available from the previous setup.
“Children four years and older can join in the fun on the roller coaster zipline, provided they are in good health and have a waiver signed. Safety is our priority,” she emphasized.
The updated activity rates at the Adventure Zone are as follows: rappelling costs P150 for two attempts; kayaking is P150 for 30 minutes; wall climbing is also P150 for two attempts; the roller coaster zipline is P250 for two attempts; and the rope course, which includes nine activities, is P200.
Activity packages combining zipline, rope course, rappelling, and wall climbing are available from P400 to P600.
Catherine Ashley Castillo Somera, Miss Ilocos Sur Tourism 2025, was among the first to try out the newly reopened zone.
“Aside from being a local attraction, it also helps people to cooperate as a whole and as one. This is not just one kind of destination; this is a must-visit experience,” she said.
Marry Rose Gabayan, Miss Ilocos Sur Environment 2025, said the zipline was her favorite because it offered a stunning view of the Abra River.
The Adventure Zone is open for activities from 8 AM to 6 PM, while sightseeing is available until 8 PM daily.
Looking ahead, the provincial government also plans to introduce new attractions, including water skiing, perfect for summer thrills.
