Ilocos Sur gov’t helps MSMEs start anew

VIGAN CITY, Ilocos Sur (PIA) – Some 1,500 micro, small, and medium enterprises (MSMEs) in Ilocos Sur, who were affected by the onslaught of  Super Typhoon Egay, received P5,000 cash assistance from the provincial government on Thursday, November 30 at the Vigan Convention Center here.

Rolando Bulso, an online food business owner in Narvacan town, said that the amount he received will help increase his capital so he can restart his livelihood.

Further, Governor Jeremias Singson reminded the beneficiaries during his message at the event that they should immediately use the assistance for their business and not for leisure activities.

“The provincial government of Ilocos Sur has been committed to bolstering local economic development as highlighted in the One Ilocos Sur 10-Point Agenda so all together we will do this as one,” Singson said.

The provincial government was assisted by the Department of Trade and Industry (DTI)-Ilocos Sur during this distribution.

Director Rosario Quodala of DTI-Ilocos Sur said that she knows that some MSMEs were forced to cease their operations, while some were wiped-out and others relocated their business.

Quodala added, “Through the generosity and benevolence of our provincial government, we are all here today.

The cash assistance will benefit a total of 3,304 MSMEs in the province once they complete the distribution for the remaining recipients in December. (JCR/AMB/ATV, PIA Ilocos Sur)
