VIGAN CITY, Ilocos Sur (PIA) – After the successful May 12, 2025 midterm elections, newly elected officials in Ilocos Sur have reaffirmed their commitment to unity and public service.
On May 13, after proclamations of winning provincial officials, local leaders pledged to strengthen programs that respond to community needs and foster collaboration among local government units (LGUs), regardless of political affiliation.
“We advocate unity because it’s not about who won. It’s about doing what’s best for Ilocos Sur,” Governor-elect Jeremias Singson remarked in an interview on May 13.
Singson said they have prepared several programs aimed at improving the welfare of LGUs and residents, ensuring everyone will benefit.
“Let’s come together. I also assure you that the provincial government is always open to collaboration with all Ilocos Surian citizens,” he ended.
Vice Governor-elect Ryan Luis Singson urged all candidates to move past political differences and work for the province’s welfare. He promised that the Sangguniang Panlalawigan will fulfill its campaign commitments by crafting ordinances and resolutions that benefit the people.
“This is not about us—it’s for the people of Ilocos Sur. Winners and non-winners alike must unite for progress,” he said.
Both the governor-elect and vice governor-elect were unopposed, receiving 328,528 and 331,144 votes, respectively.
Second district representative-elect Kristine Singson-Meehan said that the winners now have a fresh mandate to work together.
“No matter our position, we all have a role in Ilocos Sur’s development. I believe the provincial and local governments have many programs that we can support,” Singson-Meehan said.
She said she is ready to assist LGUs with their needs.
“Our priority is making sure every town and city gets what it needs. We stay in contact with them and do our best to deliver,” she added.
Singson-Meehan received 163,262 votes. Meanwhile, first district representative-elect Ronald Singson earned 143,361 votes.
For the 12th Sangguniang Panlalawigan, reelected first district members Art Oandasan and Francisco Arturo Ranches III return, joined by newcomers Janina Media-Fariñas, King Rafanan, and Atty. Ismael Baterina.
In the second district, Ericson Singson, Benjamin Maggay, and Leopoldo Gironella Jr. were reelected, along with new members Fayinna Zaragoza and Atty. Pablito Sanidad Jr.
As their new term begins, Ilocos Sur officials are united in pushing for a more cohesive and progressive province that fosters inclusive growth for all. (CCMT/JMCQ, PIA Ilocos Sur)
