Iloilo City gov’t to extend RPT discount for land ‘til 2026

ILOILO CITY (PIA) — Taxpayers in Iloilo City will continue to enjoy the 40% discount on their Real Property Tax (RPT) payments, this as the city government here will extend the discount on RPT for Land until 2026.

Mayor Jerry Treñas announced this development as a commitment to foster inclusive and responsive governance that prioritizes the welfare of the constituents.

“This decision reflects our continued efforts to address the concerns of property owners and taxpayers in light of the adjustments to RPT based on updated market values,” Treñas said in a press conference held via Zoom, at the sideline of his birthday celebration prepared by the City Hall employees.

Treñas likewise called for an amendatory ordinance to be submitted to the City Council at the soonest possible time to formalize the extension.

“Taxes remain the lifeblood of government operations. While this adjustment aims to ease the financial burden on taxpayers, we appeal to everyone to pay their taxes promptly,” the mayor added.

To recall, the Iloilo City Government voluntarily reduced the RPT on land starting this year and initially until 2025 only.  (AAL/LMLE/PIA Iloilo/With reports from Iloilo City PIO)
