ILOILO CITY (PIA) – Young leaders from various secondary public high schools in Iloilo assumed the roles of Boy and Girl Officials during this year’s Linggo ng Kabataan celebration organized by the Panlalawigang Pederasyon ng mga Sangguniang Kabataan (PPSK).
This event, which runs from August 12-14, spelled opportunities for these promising youngsters to engage with their provincial government official counterparts, gaining firsthand experience in governance, policy-making, and public service.
Gov. Arthur Defensor, Jr. said that the provincial government wants to involve the youth to inspire and showcase their leadership potential.
“We want you to be involved in the mainstream of our work, mainstream sang pagpanginmanwa because of the present set up that we have,” Defensor addressed the student leaders during the presentation of Boy and Girl Officials at the capitol grounds.
The provincial government likewise conveyed that this event serves as a reminder of the youth’s critical role in shaping the future of Iloilo Province.

They underwent a rigid process of selection such as paper screening, interview, and essay exam.
Meanwhile, part of the annual Linggo ng Kabataan festivities include Local Trade & Artisan Fair, First Iloilo Youth Short Film Festival, Youth Summit, SK Night, Agripreneurship Talk, medical consultation, simultaneous clean-up drive, tree planting, and cosplay.
This year’s celebration in partnership with the provincial government, PPSK, and Iloilo Provincial Youth Development Council was themed, “From Clicks to Progress: Youth Digital Pathways for Sustainable Development”. (AAL/LMLE/PIA Iloilo)
