ILPI provides aid to 6 schools via Brigada Eskwela

ILIGAN CITY (PIA)–Promoting community engagement and corporate social responsibility (CSR), Iligan Light and Power, Inc. has extended its steadfast support to six public schools here through its Brigada Eskwela initiative.

These schools are Ditucalan Elementary School, Tomas Cabili National High School, Tubaran Central School, Tubaran National High School, Sgt. Miguel Canoy Elementary School, Suarez Central School, and Sultan Maminta Panandigan Integrated School, identified by the Department of Education (DepEd) Division of Iligan.

The Brigada Eskwela campaign is a flagship CSR activity undertaken by ILPI, aimed at fostering volunteerism and contributing to the betterment of educational facilities in the local community. This year, ILPI rallied a group of 77 employee volunteers who willingly dedicated their time, skills, and efforts to support the schools.

The ILPI team engaged in a variety of activities, including repainting classroom chairs, beautifying school grounds, clearing vegetation, and addressing electrical issues.

“Kining Brigada Eskwela, in line ni siya sa activity or endeavors sa CSR na team wherein ma-enhance pod ang volunteerism sa mga empleyado sa ILPI [This Brigada Eskwela is in line with the activities or endeavors of the CSR team, wherein the promotion of volunteerism among the employees of Iligan Light is being maintained],” said ILPI’s spokesperson Jeffre Opema.

Meanwhile, Casa Belandres, Human Resource Administration Group Manager of ILPI, expressed her satisfaction with the progress of the initiative.

“Pirme na namo ni ginabuhat. In fact, ang among employees, they look forward na mag-hold na pud mi og mga Brigada Eskwela activities, and we did not have any problem at all sa pag-engganyo sa mga employees to join us in this undertaking [We have been doing this consistently. In fact, among our employees, they look forward to us holding Brigada Eskwela activities again, and we didn’t encounter any problem at all in persuading employees to join us in this undertaking],” she said.

Moreover, school heads and teachers are thankful for the support given to their schools.

“We are so happy. Thank you so much for your support. Bisan naa mi sa bukid. Ang among schools japon ang isa sa inyong napilian para tagaan og support [We are overjoyed by ILPI’s support. Even though our school is located in a rural area, we are humbled and thankful to have been chosen as one of the recipients of their support],” said Elsa Gabisay Abdul, Brigada Eskwela Coordinator for the elementary level of Sultan Maminta Panandigan Integrated School in Barangay Bonbonon.

Meanwhile, Tubaran National High School Assistant School Principal Lilibeth Borongan highlighted the significance of ILPI’s contribution in providing electric posts and beautifying their school.

On the other hand, Bernie Lubguban, school head of Tomas Cabili National High School, expressed deep gratitude towards ILPI for their invaluable assistance in enhancing the safety and well-being of students and teachers alike, such as the provision of electrical posts and the meticulous repair of electrical issues.
