The Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE)-Isabela City Field Office, in partnership with the Barangay Local Government Unit of Tabiawan, distributes livelihood kits to empower 75 informal sector workers in Isabela City.
ISABELA CITY, Basilan (PIA) — At least 75 informal workers in the city recently received livelihood starter kits from the Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE)-Isabela City Field Office, in collaboration with Barangay Tabiawan.
This initiative aims to empower local entrepreneurs, farmers, fisherfolks, and skilled individuals across the city by providing essential equipment and supplies for various livelihood projects such as food processing, baking, massage and reflexology, fishing, guitar making, and mechanics.
Marlyn M. Anoos, chief labor and employment officer, underscored DOLE’s commitment to facilitating employment and promoting decent work in the community.
“The distribution of these livelihood kits is part of our broader effort to empower individuals through sustainable livelihood programs, enabling them to become economically self-reliant,” she said.
Amarkan Nuril, who represented the Public Employment Service Office (PESO), discussed the “HapIsabida” program and its significant role in enhancing employment opportunities for Isabeleños.
Rebecca Dua, barangay official of Tabiawan, expressed her appreciation for the ongoing partnership with DOLE, emphasizing the meaningful opportunities it has created for the community, particularly in uplifting the lives of informal sector workers.
Among the beneficiaries, Ms. Gloria Burton, who received support for her food processing project, expressed her gratitude saying “I thank the Lord for this wonderful blessing, and I am truly grateful to DOLE for granting me this opportunity”.
The initiative represents a significant step towards creating sustainable livelihoods and is part of the ongoing implementation of the DOLE Integrated Livelihood Program (DILP).
