CALAPAN CITY, Oriental Mindoro (PIA) — More than 200 native Mangyan students of Pawikan Elementary School in Barangay Nasucob, Bulalacao town in Oriental Mindoro are the recipients of free school supplies, food packs, clothes and slippers of the Philippine Army’s 4th Infantry “Scorpion” Battalion.

This after the Battalion’s-initiated outreach program led by the alumni the Mabini Academy of Lipa Batangas-Class of 1994 and spearheaded by Baldomero Katigbak, and joined by the soldiers of the 4IB led by Battalion Commander, Lt. Col. Antonio P. Yago.

“Isa na namang makabuluhan at mapagmalasakit na hakbangin sa pamamagitan ng isang outreach program ang matagumpay na nailunsad na dinaluhan ng humigit sa 200 mga katutubong mag-aaral,” said a press release from the 4IB.

[Another meaningful and caring initiative through an outreach program was successfully launched attended by over 200 indigenous students.]

Meanwhile, 4IB’s Civil-Military Operations (CMO) assistant officer Jennica Yra Mancera said that the CPP-NPA-NDF terrorist group mostly targets the youth population.

Mancera also talked on how education may protect people from terrorist groups whose aim is to ruin the future of all those who fell for their deceptive propaganda.

The teachers and students of Pawikan Elementary School also appreciated the initiative of school principal George J. Naling, for connecting with the Mabini Academy of Lipa Batangas-Class of 1994 in realizing the outreach program in their school.

They also expressed their gratitude to the military, who are always with the young people, especially the Indigenous Peoples.

Accordingly, the 4IB said that the soldiers are constantly prepared and will never get tired of assisting any organizations and the entire Mindoreños. (GATS/PIA MIMAROPA)
