IPIL, Zamboanga Sibugay (PIA) – The much-awaited inaugural mall in Ipil was recently opened to the public, ushering in a new era of commerce and marking a significant milestone for the community by generating employment opportunities and contributing to the local economy.
The opening of the mall not only provided a one-stop shopping experience but also played a pivotal role in creating more jobs, thereby addressing employment needs within the community, helping residents secure livelihoods, and contributing to the overall economic growth of Ipil.
KC Mae Paghasian, a resident of Brgy. Don Andres in Ipil, expressed gratitude for the employment opportunity.
“I am very grateful for being hired as a cashier, as it helps me and my family by providing me with a source of income for our everyday essentials,” Paghasian said.
The Public Employment Service Office (PESO) of Ipil also acknowledged the substantial impact of the mall on the local job market. The office emphasized that the opening of the mall significantly contributed to the creation of jobs, not only addressing unemployment concerns but also aligning with the local government’s commitment to fostering economic development in Ipil.
This year, PESO Ipil held three job recruitment events, resulting in the hiring of 84 provincial residents for positions at the mall. First, on April 13–14, 43 people were hired for supervisory and stock-in-charge roles; second, on July 24–25, 29 people were hired for cashier, saleslady, and utility positions; and third, on November 23, 12 people were hired as security guards. PESO Ipil resumed hiring on December 11, with ten male security guards needed.
Carlos Pejedero, a resident of Ipil and seasoned security professional, acknowledged the recent opportunity he secured during the recruitment activity on November 23.
“I am so thankful first to God for this blessing and second to PESO Ipil for giving me the opportunity because through this I will be able to provide for my family’s daily needs,” Pejedero said.
Maridel Ventura, Executive Asstistant III of PESO Ipil, reaffirmed their commitment to helping employers find competent and skilled workers while also providing individuals with the opportunities they need to obtain meaningful employment.
The opening of the mall has been a reason for celebration, as it has brought to the center of Ipil not only a new shopping destination but also a wave of job opportunities and economic vitality. Ipil’s development into a major commercial center for the province is evidence of the town’s commitment to progress. (RVC/EDT/RBI/PIA9-Zamboanga Sibugay)
