Isabela conducts job fair; 62 applicants hired on the spot

CITY OF ILAGAN, Isabela (PIA) – The job fair organized by the provincial government of Isabela resulted in 62 applicants being hired on the spot.

The event, facilitated by the Isabela Public Employment Service Office (PESO) in partnership with the Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE), aimed to help unemployed individuals find decent employment.

The 62 hired applicants represent 15 percent of the 413 registered attendees, surpassing DOLE’s minimum requirement of at least 10 percent for on-the-spot hires.

PESO Isabela Manager Jeng Reyes acknowledged the participation of 45 private companies and government agencies in the job fair.

Reyes also noted that 122 individuals applied to join the Philippine Army and the Philippine Navy.

The provincial government plans to continue hosting job fairs to provide employment opportunities, particularly for recent college graduates.

Meanwhile, fresh graduate Engr. Christian Cortez, who was the first applicant hired on the spot, is a BRO for Education (BRO-Ed) scholar of the provincial government. He will begin his new role as a project engineer at a construction company.

Cortez expressed his gratitude to the provincial government for organizing the job fair, which helped him secure employment. (OTB/MGE/PIA Isabela)
